“Opportunity knocks on your door once.”
I came across these words during my daily online English lessons. When the topic of “favorite quotes” came up, my Filipino teacher shared this phrase with me. Pursuing the dream of becoming a police officer, my teacher was full of hope and truly inspiring.
“Don’t miss that single knock—make sure you seize it.”
Ever since I received these words from my teacher, I always bring them to mind whenever I face a new wall at work or when an opportunity for growth comes my way. Even when my feet feel frozen and I think, “This might be a little out of my league right now,” I remind myself that if I let this chance slip by, the same door will never knock again. Telling myself this gives me the courage to take a step forward.
Whether it’s a challenge at work or the people we meet today, everything is a one-time knock. As I keep moving forward, I want to make sure I never miss that sound.
